Week: 40M
I just saw your last comment from last week...that's terrible. I am so sorry for everyone's loss and the tragedy her husband is enduring. I can't imagine what that would be like. I hope he is able to recover. There were a bunch of runner death stories last week, was your friend Meg Menzies? I've seen a few tweets about #megsmiles.
I intended to do a tempo this weekend and did a couple little tests on Wednesday and Thursday, but had a little soreness in my ankle that scared me off of it. The tests felt great it was just a little sore/tight Friday.
Do you think doing something like in and out 400s would be an ok workout?
Excellent week of work.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was her. I guess her husband took note of all the local places that were putting running groups together, and drove their 3 kids around to let them see all the support.
Always better safe than sorry when it comes to ankle pain/soreness.
That workout sounds good...what kind of paces where you thinking?
That's a sad story :(
ReplyDeleteI signed up for a 5.2K this Saturday just to see what's going on with me and crowds. I tend to hate the crowds.
I wasn't sure about the paces really. Maybe after a 2M warmup with 8 strides I could start at 90 second/3 minutes and see how that feels. Was thinking maybe 10 reps.
Nice. Your race time should help you out with setting your workout paces.
ReplyDeleteHow do you plan on racing this weekend? I know you haven't had a lot of speed work/ threshold training lately, so I would go out conservatively and work your way down...keep the lactic acid/lactate levels down early on. Maybe start above 7min/mile pace and work down a bit from there.
Good Luck and have fun.
That's what I'm thinking of doing. Just an easy couple miles to warm up then some strides and light stretching. Go out at about 7:30 and see how that feels. I really just need to start going to races to get into it again.
