The middle of this week was terrible. I was dealing with a ton of stress so I wasn't eating enough and Thursday and Friday show that pretty well. Definitely want to get my miles up this week.
The upside of last week is I'm going to have a lot more time to run from now on and less stress to get in the way. My sleep has been suffering for months so the extra recovery time should help moving forward.
Recovery is such an important part of running. Stressing and breaking the muscles down is really the easy part. Its the strengthening and repair that is hard. Like you've already noticed, it takes the right diet, good sleep, and adequate recovery between workouts to maximize improvements.

Looks like you didn't run that 5K you were planning. Do you have any plans to run another one?
Yeah, my recovery had been suffering for awhile. Between a puppy for the last 6 months and relationship stress the last few weeks I wasn't sleeping enough. Well, those aren't an issue anymore.
ReplyDeleteI was really tired Saturday morning and had a full day of moving to deal with so the race lost priority. After finishing moving Sunday I felt pretty good and was happy with my times especially considering how terrible the middle part of my week was.
I don't have any plans for trying to race anytime soon. I have to look at the schedule for local events.
