If you continue this simple practice every day, you will obtain some wonderful power. Before you attain it, it is something wonderful, but after you attain it, it is nothing special. ~ Shunryu Suzuki, Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind

My run Thursday felt great, but I wish I had been able to get it in on Wednesday instead.
I need to start getting some intervals in on Saturdays. I'm thinking about doing hills on Monday, long run on Wednesday, and intervals, tempo, or race on Saturdays.

Week: 42M
Bike: 8M
I tried to make most of this week a little easier and even. I do want to stop back loading and doing back-to-back workouts on the weekends. Thinking about it, I like doing my long run in the middle of the week instead of on the weekend. I still want to keep Saturday morning's for workouts to keep working on my morning routine.
I'm going to do another 5K on March 1 so I guess I'll tempo that too and see how it goes. I think it is super low key so I don't expect to have anyone to key off of like last time.
Hope the vortex is leaving you alone.

Week: 40M
Bike: 90:00
I didn't get to hills because of weather and my schedule was tight. I wanted to do them Wednesday, but the weather was terrible, and since I had the tempo Saturday I didn't want to be sore by doing them Thursday. I'm usually pretty sore after my first couple sessions of hard hill or interval training. I will get them in this week for sure.
The bike seems to be helping out as a good warm up, but I started getting impatient later in the week so I missed a few. And it is super boring so I hit my limit around 30:00.
I've been getting massages for my legs the last couple weeks because I noticed my lower legs were super tight. So far I am amazed that I've gone 38 years without ever getting a proper massage.

Week: 34M
My right hamstring starting bothering me a little earlier in the week (Tuesday maybe) and hadn't gotten better so I took Sunday off. It hurts on the left side above my knee where the tendon turns into muscle. I see no bruising. It mostly feels tight and only hurts when I push on it...or run...My initial guess is my semitendinosis cramped or pulled.
I did a good amount of icing and rolling yesterday and I got some of that Blue Emu Oil stuff. I used it a long time ago and recall it being worth the money. Maybe...maybe not...
I want to test my hamstring tonight, but think I'm either going to take the day off or ride my bike. I really need to make sure I run on more level surfaces. Crowned roads are not doing me any favors. This is me trying to learn from my left ankle.
I got an exercise ball and am going to start working with that after my runs.
Other than that I think my week had some good efforts and I'm happy with it.
Hope things are getting better up north.

AM - 1M warmup; 5K 7:21, 7:40, 7:23 - My pre-race routine was pretty sweet. I woke up at 5:30, went back to sleep, woke up at 6:30 and laid in bed til 7:00, got up, saw the forecast called for cold rain, had a gel and some water, and jogged to the start as they were unplugging the timing mat. So I had the entire field to run through which was kind of fun except hitting traffic a lot during mile 2. The race was a 5.2K so I stopped at 5K and only worried about my mile times. This was a decent first tempo.

Week: 35M
I want to try to do weekly tempos or speed work on Saturday mornings to help get me in the routine of running fast early, and to help me establish a pre-race routine. Also, if I am going to be on the track for anything I have to get on early because all the tracks around me get a lot of use during the week. So, I guess when I am ready for track work I'd like to have that Saturday mornings and do a tempo during the week sometime since I can do those on roads. Or do a tempo during the week and on Saturday if you think multiple tempos every other week makes sense. Or not. Just thinking.
Also, still having a little pain in my ankle again after sitting and not keeping my leg straight. The pain isn't when I run or walk. Things just get tight after running and sitting. I got a Straussberg sock and have been wearing it and doing RICE as much as I can. I'm also still wearing compression socks a lot when not running. I don't think this is a big deal right now, and I'm very suspicious that it has something to do with soft shoes.
Anyway, I hope your doing well and getting back into training.

Week: 40M
I just saw your last comment from last week...that's terrible. I am so sorry for everyone's loss and the tragedy her husband is enduring. I can't imagine what that would be like. I hope he is able to recover. There were a bunch of runner death stories last week, was your friend Meg Menzies? I've seen a few tweets about #megsmiles.
I intended to do a tempo this weekend and did a couple little tests on Wednesday and Thursday, but had a little soreness in my ankle that scared me off of it. The tests felt great it was just a little sore/tight Friday.
Do you think doing something like in and out 400s would be an ok workout?
